Meet our Tag-Teaming-Music-Directing Duo

Sean Barker and Casey Johnson will be taking the helm of Shrek’s music-direction this summer. The music-conducting-orchestra-leading-tag-teaming-duo are seasoned musicians that are “VERY excited for the show!” Casey teaches elementary music and choir at Afton-Lakeland Elementary and Anderson Elementary in the Stillwater district. She graduated from the University of St Thomas in 2010 with a B.M. in Music Education. Similarly, Sean graduated in 2011 with a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Music, and is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Teaching for Vocal Music Education. Together, the two co-direct the newly-formed St. Thomas Alumni Choir along with a mutual friend.

With an orchestra more than four times the size of Home Base Theatre’s previous productions, we are thankful to have two musicians in charge of the show’s music. Did you know that ‘Welcome to Duloc’ is the only original song from the film that is sung in the musical? That means audience members have 19 brand-new songs to look forward to hearing during this summer’s production!
